I bought this box for a sister in law, lives quite a bit away so tend to give help by phone. It all worked grand from the outset until today. Its dead ie nothing. Nothing in the friont menu.

Told them to switch off at back, then at wall, etc etc but no power getting to the unit. When it switched on first thing today by Remote a letter A appeared in front menu of box. I dont an arriva so cant compare.

Any help appreciated or has box gone tits up so soon??

Thank you, just done that, I read through bits of the thread and found nothing about this fault so decided to give it a title on its own.

just an update, the A on the display is usually ASH and denotes trouble. But hats off to sat world, contacted them, gave box serial no and straightaway they said return it. So it has gone back. Apparently around christmas a few boxea had a faulty chip and this was bought in January 2012, so 6 monhs ago.

    Ferguson symptoms

ASH/A5H = bad/corrupt eeprom. If you did nothing (ie no flashing of firmware) then its that faulty batch around Christmas. But you can also create this situation if you flashed the wrong firmware.

Rebooting at start to Ariva Flash screen and looping continuously is also the outcome from when you flash it with the wrong firmware. These situations are recoverable with the Ariva Upgrade tool, the latest firmware file and a null modem cable (tested).
