First Years

    Hey everyone. :)
Just finished my leaving and I'm feeling fairly confident that I will get into Arts in NUIG. I was just wondering, can anyone give me an idea of when first years head to the college? I'm from Dublin and I'm on the HEAR scheme, so I'm assuming I'd be heading down earlier than a fair few others. I just want to know because I want to sell my gym membership when I leave so I'm trying to get all of the classes etc I can out of it in the mean time. :P
    Cheers!

Lectures start about mid September but there is some orientation thing before that.
Here is link to last years info for 1st years.
    http://www.nuigalway.ie/new-students/

It probably won't be updated until August but apart from the dates the info is the same.

This year's orientation weekend for students is the 8th and 9th September. :) Lectures start on the 10th. I think last year HEAR students had to spend about 4/5 days on campus around the last few days of August and I know they finished on 2nd September so you have a bit of a gap before you get back!

    Best of luck :)

Im a mentor for ye for yer intro weekend, to do the campus tours and stuff...What happens is, ye all go to orientation (the 8th i think, the Saturday?) and they give ye booklets with all the subjects and stuff, then go through all the need to know stuff, then yer split into groups, so sit with yer fiends as ye will then be in the same mentor group, you then need to stay with your mentor and go on your tour with them then. they will give you a card with their name, email and mobile number to be used for contact if you need them :)

Will the 9th just be a repeat of the 8th or?

Yep, HEAR orientation is the 26th to the 29th of August. What happens is you come down, we put you up under the care of a HEAR mentor, in a group with 11 others. You share an apartment on Corrib with 3 other students for the 3 nights, and learn all about College life! Tis great! Also, I am a HEAR mentor, so like, you already know a super-awesome-cool-fun guy!
