Advice on buying a decent roadbike

    Hi,

I'm looking to buy my first proper road bike to do some non-serious races and maybe a triathlon or two. Was thinking of spending around the 1500e mark.

I've seen the KTM strada 3500 for 1600e and the Cube agree GTC for about the 1450e mark. Basically I want something light, comfortable and reliable.

Can anyone give me any advice on either these bikes or any others at a similar range that might be better? Also, base2race are offering a free bike fit as part of the deal. Is this something that's worth the extra money they might charge?

    Thanks a lot!
    DD

Thanks, looks like a nice bike. Might be just out of my price range though. How does the SRAM group sets compare to shimano? And any tips on whether it's worth paying the extra for shimano ultrgra versus the 105. This stuff is all kinda new to me and I'm loathe to take salemen's advice.

People who use SRAM prefer SRAM. People who use Shimano prefer Shimano. People who use Campagnolo prefer Campagnolo. Pick one and become a disciple. They all have slightly different ergonomics, shift action and shift feel. I use Shimano as its what I started on. It's not sexy but its reliable.

As for Ultegra over 105. It won't be noticeably different. Ultegra is slightly lighter. But any groupset will shift properly if well setup and maintained.

What drew me to this was the frame, I'll never have to upgrade that, I have SRAM force on mine . I.ve spent 5 hours as a newbie on mine it must say a lot for the comfort.

    I like it.

    I like it a Lott .
