    Hello.

I need to replace a headlight bulb on the left passenger side of a 2005 Honda Accord 2.2i CTDI. However....it's proving rather tricky to get at. Before I make matters worse and break something, any advice please?!

I don't want to take it to a garage for such a small thing.

    Thanks in advance!

I had that model Accord and would willingly pay someone to replace the bulb. It's a right pain.

There are screw off caps covering the back of the lights, then there is a clip holding the light unit in place. It's fairly easy to get the bulb out and the new bulb in, but I could never get the clip back correctly.

Give Advance 15 quid and save yourself skinned knuckles and a lot of frustration.

Find a local halfords and pay them €6 to put them in :)

Changing bulbs in most cars seems to be a nightmare now. The only car I have had which made it easy was the Volvo S40 - pull up one clip and the whole unit slides forward, clear of the body. Almost a pleasure to change bulbs !

Very straightforward, it's detailed in your owners manual.

    In summary,

    1. Pop the bonnet
    2. Locate the bulb cover. It's big plastic disc that you turn clockwise on the passenger size. It will be stiff as there's a rubber ring that holds it in place.
    3. With the rubber cover off you'll see the bulb. Remove the power cable (red with a grey cover) and there's only one. This is pulled off.
    4. The bulb is held in by a spring holder, you'll need to push and slide this to release the buld
    5. Take the bulb out.
    6. Put the new one in a note there are orientation holes around for this. You could put it in the wrong way - won't break anything, just the bulb will be misaligned within the projector
    7. Put all back

Any decent Motor Factors will sell you the bulb and fit it if you ask nicely.

Use a cloth when handling the glass of the bulb as your hands would be greasy enough to cause heat sport on the bulb otherwise.

Not trying to sound smart, but isn't an objective not to touch the glass?

Especially if its one of those ultra bright nitghtbreaker type bulbs.

Not often achievable, especially with recessed holders.

It used to be simple, but these days with the engine bays been so packed there always seems to be something in the way of at least one of the bulbs. And you always seem to have to remove something out of the way to get at the assembly . Some of the better designs seem to make the part easy to remove out of the way but others ,you have to get out the socket set.
Take it to a motor factors like someone has already suggested they are usually helpfull and sometimes do not charge to do it.

ive a 2011 , i bought the bulb and thought i could just pop out the battery to replace bulb no luck, in manual says to remove whole liner inside the wheel arch, took it to my local advance tyre who said it would cost 85 euros as was 45 mins job, gave honda dealer a call in next country (none in my own county) who said it would cost 35 euros and how they do it is remove bumper, 30 min job
