Don't be so hasty. I have a friend who was offered one for €1500 about two years ago. He bought it(it's a 01) despite everyone saying they were crap as it was so cheap(big mileage was reason). He has dogged it ever since as he viewed it as disposable, and.. the thing has never once given a spot of bother - and he has a cattle trailer almost welded on the back of it. So, maybe they're not so bad after all.

The main issue I see with them is the pathetically small cabin, if you're going to buy a proper 4x4 then get a proper one. They'll work pretty well but with commercial tax there's no reason not to go for a Pajero or a Landcruiser as these have more power and better mpg figures.

Personally, I hate the Pajero - lovely jeep, but getting a gearbox(and you'll need one)rebuilt gets old, and the brakes, don't mention the calipers. That same lads brother gave >7k for a 01 Paj, and it's always broken. The Pajero sport has given waay less bother. My neighbour has an 02 paj and same stuff, brakes, drives and gearboxes. Don't like em. Soft compared to the older model.
