    Ive been granted retention for an extension to the rear of my house plus other bits and pieces on the original house that were not fully in compliance with the original planning. Im delighted to have all this sorted.
    Now one of the conditions of the retention is remove a window arch on the front elevation. i expected as much anyway.
    Does this work require a commencement notice?
    The rear of the commencement notice states that its required for:

    erection of a building
    material change of use
    material alteration or extension to a building.

    Any ideas?

    specifically:

    '“material alteration” means an alteration (other than a repair or renewal),
    where the work, or any part of the work, carried out by itself would be
    subject to a requirement of Part A or B of the Second Schedule to the
    Building Regulations;
