Ring Store Street I'd say, or your local station.

    Or http://www.garda.ie/Controller.aspx?Page=6363&Lang=1

    Found this online lads.

    http://www.merlincarauctions.ie/bicycle

"The next bicycle & miscellaneous items auction on behalf of An Garda Siochana will take place in July 2012.

The date will be confirmed in June 2012."

Phoned Merlin, they still don't have a date but it will be in July, you can sign up for alerts ion their site and when the bike auction is confirmed you will get a text, you can choose which auctions you receive updates about.

Signing up myself right now :)

Thanks for laughing... I'm happy to take the piss out of myself looking like a tw@ on rte news...

No much laughing re: my bike actually being nicked from within my workplace..From my office that has got 24hour security on it and swipe access etc...

So I don't really know what's so funny about it...

I wouldn't wish this on anyone or laugh at someone who had their bike nicked...

I obviously wasn't laughing that your bike was stolen, just at how it was phrased.

If you're not a pro, what in gods name are you doing with a five grand bike, and what are you doing commuting with it...

Why is it any of your business what he does with his money?

Some people spend their money on clothes, cars, beer, do you question their spending?

For all you know he competes at a decent level regularly.

I wasn't aware that there was a spending cap on your equipment unless you were a professional.

Why does any amateur spend more than €150 on a set of golf clubs? Why does anyone buy a car that has more than a 1 litre engine if they're not racing?

Surely the guy has right to spend however much he likes and use the bike however he likes without fear of it being stolen, whether it cost €500 or €5000?

Pretty stupid and insensitive thing to say to be honest.

Shows you dont really have a breeze about cycling or bikes.

He could have had to use it for any reason, like a puncture on the commuter, etc. He doesn't have to justify for one second why he spends his own money on a bike. Not everyone likes cycling around on a garden gate and certainly not doing something like the Marmotte on one.

Saw this on the news. Real kick in the teeth cipo. That bike had been all over the place and I thought it was a savage bike. Sorry about that. Hope to see you out and about soon.

Really, wow? Yeah, if you cycle a really nice bike like that it's just asking to be stolen, right? Reminds me a little of the comments made about girls who dress provocatively on nights out.

Seriously? It has nothing to do with you what he or anybody spends there Money on. If he loves his sport of cycling, he has every rite to spend however much he wants on it, even if it is just spinning up and down the to local shop it doesnt concern you in anyway and it certainly doesnt give anyone a right to steal someone else property, absolute scumbags!

Women spend thousands of make-up and handbags, we still let them do it! its there choice...... you lot who have made rude and insulting comments to the fellow bikers on this thread need to grow up!

It's his money, his life he will do what he likes. RANT OVER!

hi, am thinking of buying a new bike. Can you please let me know what is an acceptable amount for me to spend, being a non-pro. I'd hate to have you saying I'd spent too much on boards.

    TIA

I am a pro... ;-) and I ride cols like they are flat as pancakes!!

Thanks for all the supportive comments, lads & ladies!!

I know there's a great cycling community in Dublin and I'm hoping this might just, by a stroke of luck, find the bike for me!! I know its pretty optimistic / naive but I know of others who've had their bikes turn up when they go to try sell it....

I only had the bike less than 12months but she'd some great rides and been some great spots!!

I'd rather they'd robbed our car as it doesn't feel as important / personal to me ( I'm sure mrs Cipo would disagree haha)

Anyway thanks and enjoy bike week

    Dave

Ps people have actually asked me 'was it locked up, outside?? I nearly blow my top when they do... If you saw where it was nicked from you'd be as shocked as I was when I realised it was gone!! Secure 24hr monitored CCTV building that is difficult to get into the right way let alone the way they did!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,223 ✭✭✭✭Lumen

@cipo: they stole your Cento Uno! Bastards! That's like declaring war on Italy or something.

I hope you get it back.

Does this mean they saw you cycle in and park up? A bit like the comment on another thread about expensive Subarus being nicked to order; from what you have described, it doesn't sound like they just struck it lucky :(

    Bastards.

Anyway, I hope you get it back or get yourself sorted out - bet the mountain bike on the vid isn't as nice to ride ...
