Retaining car warranty

With Galway Renault due to close in the next week or two, I'm left considering my options with a 2010 Clio - when purchased, we took the extended 5 year warranty. I'd assumed that you need to go to a certified Renault dealer in order to keep the warranty valid - is that the case? If it is, and with Ennis closed too, looks like I'd have to traipse over to Athlone for services etc

Am I right in saying services have to be completed with a Renault dealership to keep the 5 year warranty valid, or can I go to a local garage/indie without invalidating it?

    thanks,
    lampsie

Thanks for this - had a read through the policy here, and I've found reference to an actual repair: "All repair work must be carried out by Renault Dealer or Renault Authorised Repair Centre"..

...this doesn't really cover servicing though. It doesn't specifically say if it must be carried out by Renault Dealer, just says 'must be serviced according to the maintenance programme outlined'. In saying that tho, if during service something needs to be done that falls under warranty, I'd have to drag it to Galway Renault dealer anyways.

Anyone had any experience with this before? Also curious to know if there are any 'authorised' Renault places nearer than Athlone to Galway? A google not throwing up anything for me

    cheers,
    lampsie

I'm in the same boat having purchased a new Fluence last year. I rang Galway Renault and was told that an information pack was being sent to all customers. There is also a phone number available for all warranty queries. Best thing to do is ring them or call in.

Don't know what the road from Galway to Athlone is like but it's pretty much all motorway down to Limerick now I think & only about 20km more than Athlone, maybe 1hr15m driving time
If you had it booked in for 9am, you would be home for lunch, not ideal I know.
Having said that, I recently rang the Renault dealer in Limerick to book a service, said they would call me back but didn't so took it to Ennis instead

Athlone would be the closest from Galway.

I'm sure one of the stronger existing dealers in Galway will be all over that franchise. Ennis not so much.

Yeah I know, it's tough. The lads I dealt with in Ennis were decent enough also, bought my car there just over a year ago

Just curious, any whispers of a Renault dealer entering the Galway area and buying up the franchise? Trip to Athlone for a car service is going to be bit of a pain...
