    Hi everyone

I completed a FAS level 5 fetec hotel and catering course last April. I lost interest in the "hospiality industry" type of work. So I decided I want to train to be a health inspector. Like go out to companys and such to inspect the safety standard ect. So I done the leaving cert applied in school a year ago (got a dictintion - 85%) and I have to do a course to get into an I.T. to to study for this work. The problem is, I have no Idea where to start to look for a course as my first step to this job. Im living in sligo. (I feel this might be helpful to people that help me in this thread.)

    Thanks

    BW.

Are you referring to Environmental Health Officer, whose old (pre 1990) title was Health Inspector, or Health & Safety Officer? They are two entirely different professions.

I think its a health and safety officer. Its the one, that goes aroud to say, hotels, pubs, resturant ect. To make sure its kept up to a certan standard. Sorry for the confusion.

You want be a Environmental Health Officer.

You need a B.Sc in Environmental Health. As its a 4 year degree I would think it is a Level 8 qualification.

Im sorry, but that makes no sence to me.

Yup, that seems to be it. Heres a link I found on wiki of the job.

Im wondering though, as I done the LCA. What courses would I have to do in oder to continue into this career. Id be continuing the training of this career in sligo i.t. once I find the right stepping stone towards this carreer.

Having the LCA may well help you get a place on that degree course though . A qualification like LCA is never wasted.

Ya, I suppose, I was also thinking of this as I have an interest in computers, software ect. It doesnt say what quilifications you need. But I would rather do a fas level 5 fetec course just to pass this year.
