saying 'in bulk' I mean bigger than 1kg bags available in the health shops. I've been baking rye-spelt bread for a while now - everybody in the house loves it but the loaves don't come cheap.
it would be cost effective to purchase bigger bag of rye (and spelt) flour but I haven't seen it for sale anywhere. has anybody any suggestions? thanks in advance.

Ask/email your local health food shop. I was getting whole rye grain in, they had to order it specially for me, think it was €1.60 for 500g, she pulled out a big book from her supplier to look up the price, I asked if they did it in bulk and she gave me a price on what was either a 3 or 5kg bag and it was about half the price per kg as the small one.

This was the healthfood shop in ballybrack shopping centre.

I was actually thinking about asking canteen manager at work. They don't bake rye bread for us but they do order all stuff in bulk. Problem is that I'm not so good friends with her :)
The cheapest whole meal rye flour I've found so far is from polish food shop - 2.15eur for 1.75kg.

Try Caterway, near the Dublin Wholesale F&G market, they have a very good dry good wholesale section. You would need to ring ahead to see if they sell to Public

    http://www.dovesfarm.co.uk/flour-and-ingredients/sack-flour/organic-wholemeal-rye-flour-25kg/

With the £11 shipping to Ireland, that's £30 for 25kg. Would that work out cheaper for you?

Most whole food stores are supplied by http://www.iihealthfoods.com/ or http://www.essential-trading.co.uk/home.aspx
I'd found easiest ask my whole foodstore to order it for me

    INDEPENDENT IRISH HEALTH FOODS
    May/June 2012 prices in €
    Doves Light Rye Flour 1x25kg 24.50 (* 1.20 = 29.40 thats 1.18 per kilo)
Doves Wholemeal Rye Flour (Org) 1x25kg 25.22
IND Bulk Non Organic IND Rye Flour 1x5kg 5.87
Irish grown Dunany farm and Ballybrado mill
ask in store they know better what they can order and how much charge on top of it (10-20%?)
for Cork based people worth contact http://www.ballybrado.com/ and buy from they mill somewhere near Macroon (not sure)

alternative Find group of people ordering straight from IIHF/Essential/...etc
