In a move upmarket, I've pullled the trigger today on a ETA 2824-2 powered diver.

43 mm dia, glass/ceramic bezel, 30 ATM, saphire crystal.

Me being me, I got the whole package for 229 delivered, brandnew with warranty and all :D (let's hope now it actually arrives)

If the design looks familiar, you could also buy this as Guinand G-330M, Mercure Poseidon, Davosa Argonautic, Brandtaucher Navigator or Uhr 431 for mo' money

229 quid? There's us thinking you were a cross between a Cavan man, a Scotsman and a Swabian much beloved of Ms Merkel's speeches. What happened to you man. You've changed. :D Though like you point out it is you, so it probably costs at least double normally.

Lovely watch P. I love the orange highlights. Well may you wear. When you get it wrist shots are a given, or bannings will be handed out. Bedlam has my back on this. :)

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Very nice peasant. I had a quick look on Amazon, and sure enough here's the Davosa version for £599!

    It has arrived !

    ...and I like it. :)

It has enough of the Ehrmehgahd Seamaster to achieve that clear, classy, no fuss, purposeful diver look yet brings along enough own design and accents not to be a plain copy.

    Quick appraisal:
face: clear, to the point. Love the orange accents, particularly the hands
bezel: glass bezel insert is nice, once again, love the orange. Bezel itself is well made with 60 precise clicks and very little play
case: they went for the "hewn from a block" look. Very well executed, good finish with sharp edges. Not very intricate though, (my Vostok Amfibia Reeef has nicer details) This case was machined with as little different angles on it as are absolutely necessary ...let's call it purposeful, shall we?
bracelet: standard fare with pins, stamped clasp and fairly sharp edged links. Well made, but nothing special (once again the one on my Vostok is nicer), does have a diver extension though.

    VERDICT:
For the price I paid, I'm more than happy.
The watch is made up from quality parts and on the wrist it feels even better/more than the sum of those parts. Looks good, feels good, does what it's supposed to.

However ...had I paid full price for the "original" (which is the exact same watch except for the labeling) I'm not so sure that I'd be just as happy

Nice watch. Not familiar with the brand but it looks well put together.
    Whats the lume like?

I think the lume would best be described as "adequate"
The hands (including the second hand) and the lume dot are bright enough ...the indices (indexes?) however only muster a bit of a glow.

Lasts for a good few hours though.

    Lume shot from the internetz:

    this is scary now ...

I set and put the watch on as soon as it arrived exactly (pretty much to the hour) one week ago.

Since then it has gained a grand total of .....

...just over eight seconds :D *

So that's one second and a bit per day with no variation. There were no big gains or losses. One night (face up on the nightstand) it gained an extra second, the next day it didn't gain anything at all.

Will be interesting to see how long that lasts or if it will start losing time once it's "bedded in".

Anyhoo ...after wearing it for the week I have to say that this watch has really grown on me and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a well built, good looking (also available in black&white for the more conservatively inclined :D) and affordable mechanical "daily beater" ...so what if nobody has ever heard of "Quondam" before....

*taking into account the recent "leap second"

Sorry for bothering you. I bought the same watch & i'm waiting for it to arrive in few days. The price with post expenses was less than 200 euro.
Are you satisfied with it ? Is there really a swiss ETA caliper inside ?
    Thank you for your time
    Regards

    Hi

I haven't opened the watch, so I can't confirm 100% that it is an ETA 2824, I don't doubt it though. Like they say ...if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ....:D

And yes, I'm still very happy with this watch
