Couple of quick questions for anyone that shoots a lot of rabbits, do you gut them straight away after shooting them or wait until you have a few..? Also what sort of time limit would be safe between shooting and gutting...? Would it have to be done within an hour or two or could you leave it longer..? When gutted do you just wrap them in a bag and what's the first thing you do with them when you get home..?

+1 push gutting is the way to go. Really clean and quick. Also very handy if you forget your knife:-)

I only push gut large rabbits as I can't field dress them as the chap in the second vid does http://touch.boards.ie/thread/2056532076?page=1#post_76770207

The push gut is class , first time I did it I didn't expect the force of it coming out so ended up covered blood lol when I got it correct then its the most simplist and cleanest way to do it now

Also much easier to gut them while they are warm, I was shooting a few for a lady who wanted them to hang for a few days, and she couldn't believe how easy it was to peel them warm when I showed her!

There is also down points to it tho
I've found it harder on big old buck rabbits the stomach tends to burst open in them And your left with chewed up grass on the meat
It's great on young rabbits tho the heart and lungs are still there and I always have to walk around with the livers in me pocket as I keep them for the hawk and ferret so a small bag is in pocket it is a good way of doing it tho
