i,m taking out the old back door , rear of house, eg ground level door, and back door wood frame.SO on each side and i,ll have space 6 inches approx, depending on width of new door.I,LL be getting a pvc or metal door with doorframe.
EACH side there,ll be bricks or blocks to support the door frame.
Ill put in a dpc 2 bricks up from ground level.
beside the door ,about 8 inchs to the right there,ll be a large pc window.
ABove the window ,there ,ll be about 3 rows of large cavity blocks.
SO should i use bricks, or blocks for the 2 sides of the door frame.
I,D prefer to use blocks to match in with the wall,
ie the exterior could be blocks, inside, air cavity, insulation,
then either bricks or blocks .
IS there any advantage to using bricks around the new door frame,
if so what type of brick ,
    eg just standard solid brick.

The final level inside ,will be plasterboard ,or plaster.
so no blocks or brick will be visible .from the inside.

AT present theres 2 wood pillars ,frame, holding up the door,
above the door frame theres about 4ft of wood panel.
i think bricks on the inside ,around the door ,would be easier to
build ,as i dont want the door surround to go to far into the interior room.
i,m thinking of using the first 3 layers of bricks from
ground level to be engineering bricks ,as this as acts a dpc.
    IS this a good idea,
since i,ll be putting in a dpc plastic sheet anyway.
I,M thinking of getting a door about 2 and a half ft wide.approx.
it,ll be at least a month before i, start work on this.

So on either side of the door there,ll be 2 pillars , to install
    frame into .
i think i,ll need a padstone each side ,to support ,the bricks above the door.

I dont mind ,if the 2 door pillars ,project 6 inchs or more outside ,into the garden ,if it makes it stronger or just looks better,or is just easier to
build ,ie it,ll have to support doorframe ,and support 9 cavity blocks approx.
its likely there will be a lintel or steel beam at the top of the door
frame as i intend to take out wooden panel, and build 3 block layers
ie present wooden panel goes up, about 4ft over old wooden door.
ie above the door ,theres just a wood panel,2inch wide,
ie theres almost no weight on present wooden frame at the moment.
panel is just nailed onto a wooden frame .

There,ll probably a beam at the top of the door which will rest on the 2 pillars
and also rest on a large padstone,
which will be built into the brick wall,
    to the left ,
theres a wall on the left just beside the pillar,
ie the left pillar will be resting on it,
ie no gap between side wall and pillar,
this wall is at right angles to the new door,
    as in link here,
    http://www.steelbeamcalculations.co.uk/beam-bearing

so beam rest on 2 pillars and rests on
new padstone will i will place inside brick wall.
SO i,ll need at least 3 padstone for the new beam , or lintel.
