Just a quick post in case anyone on this forum is interested - my mate set off last week on a round the world trip on his BMW 650 with another lad and intend on covering 35,000km in just over 100 days.

They have a website which they're going to try and update regularly, so you can check out their bikes, preparation, route, and experience if you like:

Fingers crossed they get around in one piece!

I'm very jealous! Wanna do something similar on a bicycle/motorbike. Done some bicycling touring, it's awesome.

How are they flying their bikes over to the states? What am I missing?

Absolutely awesome - I'm half way through Long way Down at the moment, and I'm still amazed by Long Way Round. Fair play to the 2 guys, I'll be following their progress.

Be great if they had an RSS feed though, would make it much easier to follow.

Ye they were preparing for this for over a year - saving, planning, practicing etc. They sent the bikes ahead of them by freight to Canada which didn't work out too expensive in the end, and then flew over themselves at a later date and collected them.

No spills or anything so far, seem to be having a blast :)
