Oil on the disk

Was carelessly spraying oil on the chain of my mountain bike an accidentally completly lubed up my brake disk.

Will it burn itself off, or does it want a bit of degreaser / white spirits??

I'd give it a wipe with some degreaser myself, wouldn't want oil/lube on my pads.

It will burn off eventually but it might take a while and the break will be feck all use for a while if you don't get the grease off.

Ideally alcohol of some sort is what you'd clean your disks with.

I don't think your pads will ever be right again if you get more than a tiny bit of lube on them.

Iso Propyl Alcohol is what's recommended I think. Ethanol probably just as good or brake/clutch cleaner for cars.

Degreaser and plenty of water to rinse off if you don't have any of the above.

any of the above sound good. just ask in bike shop or motor factors for brake disc cleaner.

if you have used the bike since getting oil on the disk you'll need to clean the pads too.
