Provisional Licence Renewal

    Hi,

    I am on my second provisional licence which is due to expire soon and I was told that I need to apply for my test in order to qualify for another provisional in the meantime - is this correct?

    Basically I just got a provisional when I was 18 but was not interested in driving really and I renewed it when it was expiring and got my second. I have only started driving in the last few months and now my second provisional is about to expire. I am not ready for the test yet I don't think so would still need some form of licence.

    Why? The purpose of a licence is to drive. Is a learner's permit acceptable as ID?

    I still need a provisional licence to be able to take lessons and I am only on my 4th at the minute - so I will need a provisional licence to carry on the lessons.

    Ladjacket: To get the third learner permit you do need to apply for the test and send the confirmation of receipt of your application for the test away with the application for the third learner permit.
    When applying for the test you can say you are unavailable for testing until a certain date. That way you could get more practice in until say October.

    Thanks for this - I will apply for test this evening and book for sometime in the future.
