    Hi Guys

I have about 12 hours to kill in Pisa airport next week, arriving in about 5pm and leaving again by 6 the following morning, does anybody know the area? Would it be possible to get into the city for a walk around or is there a hotel or something at the airport?? Don't really fancy 12 hours wait on an airport seat!!

Pisa Airport is about 10 minutes on the train from Pisa Centrale (central station). The train line runs right into the airport. It is very possible to get the train Centrale and see the leaning tower and have a stroll around etc and be back by 11pm/12am when the airport closes.

pisa airport is a short walk from the centre of town (a little further away from the leaning tower) this place is only a few steps from the airport terminal and is really cheap and fine for a few hours http://www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/italy/pisa/50428/

Pisa is a university town, downtown is pretty dead in the summer, the only real activity is the tourists visiting the leaning tower so I'd say it's very quiet in the evenings. There are two ways most tourists access the place (1) by coach tour and (2) on a day trip by train from Florence which is possible (there and back) in an afternoon so I'd imagine there aren't that many tourists in town overnight in which case accommodation shouldn't be too expensive.

    Hi lads,

Just home from my stop off in Pisa, thanks for all the info! Stayed in the Pisa Rooms hostel, literally 1 minute walk from the front door of the airport, was perfect for my 6am departure this morning!
Found the place really easy to get around, got to see the tower and have a look around the town. Fairly quiet but nice all the same!
