looks pretty hard to get in, I was watching a few programs on discovery via youtube and they usually point out its something like a 10 to 1 ratio to get in..

After your basic, what regiments(s) did you serve with? Did you do any tournants? Other than 00, what did you specialise in? Leaving on medical grounds must have been serious, what happened? Did you finish your first 5?

    Just curious.

Hi, I can't finish by basic. After all I discover than the pain on my foots was because my bone was too low arch. That mean, almost flat foot. On my medical in aubange, it was ok is not noticeable visually, but it's bad when you run for a long time... Specially when you have a new rangers.

As far as I know, (and please correct me if my memory doesn't help me) until you don't finish you training in castell, you are not yet assign to any place. In my time, there was a rumour (I can't confirm) than normally the best 5 of the training, well have the opportunity to choose regiment. I leave three weeks before finish the training. Mon Adjudant, told me than it was impossible to keep going forward because my foots was my most important weapon. Also I was between the best 5 of my training. In case of choose, I will choose the most award regiment if the LE, the 3REI.

I only can help you with my experience, I still having some friends there, and only one from my training time. He retired two years ago with all honours as Major.

    Very personal experience.

    Cheers.

.....'Hey amigo, may I help you? Im a old veteran. what do you want to know?'.....

So, if I got this right, you didn't get beyond basic at Castelnaudary and never actually served as a Legionnaire? Tell me this, did you do your Raid Kepi Blanc? If not my friend, you were, in fact, an Engage Volontaire, which, in anyone's book, would not classify you as 'a old veteran'.

Fair play to you for giving it a shot, but please don't try to put yourself across as 'a old veteran' or you will find yourself being labelled a Walter.

As regards the parallel thread in which you ask for someone's 'matricule' there isn't a snowballs chance in hell you would know him if he was serving from anytime in the 70's.

Hi there: let me explain myself. I'm apologize if I use the wrong term. I'm not an English native, when I refer myself as "old veteran" I'm refer myself as old person who live some experience. Again apologize. For the chance as you say of giving a shot, I never try to hang myself a medal who doesn't correspond me. In fact I think your blame me for something I didn't, say, apart of the misunderstanding, who I understand. My experience was this and no someone's.

Unfortunately I couldn't finish my training and didn't make my KB. March, but as far as I remember, with the guys I train, few remember me. That's why I ask for someone else reg. Btw, I recognize than ask for someone else reg in public, was rude. I apologize in private, and now in public.

Something else and if didn't change, when you are send to castell, you are a Legionnaire, and you don't ascend until few months more, then in the unit they assign you.

I write in this post, just when I read the title and bring forward my experience, maybe is less spectacular than someone else, but is my experience and the legion, some how is been around my life all-time.

    Thanks schtinggg.
