Can anyone advise? She likes her songs :)

Needs to be reasonably robust & easy to use, as in she can easily read track / artist details, ideally cheap enough as I would have doubts about how long it lasts before it's lost or broken but willing to take a chance

    Cheers

I'd recommend an iPod touch, and get apple care with it for an extra €60, it adds 2 years to the warranty. I'd recommend the iTouch because it's brilliant device for keeping children occupied, it has everything she could possibly need. And you could always get a strong case with it to prevent damages from drops. Link to cases

Thanks for that but wasn't planning on spending anywhere near €200 :) on a gadget for a 7yr old
Was hoping for a cheaper alternative

Get her an iPod nano or shuffle. Shuffle's are dirt cheap but pretty hard to naviagte around. Nano would be ideal, prices are from €141 and are found here.

That's admittedly pricey. An alternative to Apple prices would be something like this from Samsung for €75. She's 7 so I doubt she will need much more than 8GB. It's basic and the screen looks easy to navigate to songs. I don't know how good it is first hand however. Good luck, if you have any more questions I'll try to answer :)

For a cheap alternative and for primarily playing music check out sony's range of mp3 players, and the sandisk Sansa fuze.

You never gave the max you'd be willing to pay.

Have a look at this one: http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/10816082/art/sandisk/sansa-clip-zip-mp3-player.html

    Sansa Clip is another idea.

Oh, and buy her Koss KSC75 headphones.
Really cheap BUT with very good sound quality, no band to break, and lifetime warranty on the plug.
