Man that Sky summer ad with all the sports people has the worlds most annoying sound track.

I actually love it, reminds me of an engine gradually starting up and bursting in to life, dying to know what it is.

track is called Many Are Called But Few Get Up by the band Man, from their Maximum Darkness album recorded live in 1975. They no longer perform, but George Jones, who played with Man towards the end of their career, and is a fabulous guitarist, regularly plays the Swansea gig circuit with his band Tthe Cover Sluts. Awful name but great music. Check them out and Man on You Tube perhaps. Hope this helps. :)

I think its the context. When the band do it its at the end of a rock song. When it comes in on the ad it could be anytime. Like the quiet part of a movie late at night.

No probs if that's how you feel, each to their own. Funnily enough, with your opening word of "Man", I thought it was some kind of play on the bands name! Either way, the band didn't quite get the recognition they deserved. At least this ad is correcting that. Maybe it will grow on you. ;)

    Good grief I feel old.
Not heard the ad but will look out for it.
I saw Man in about 1975.
Bought a few albums (remember them?)
I think they recorded with a Welsh Male voice choir once.
Deke Leonard played with them, I think ?

hi matey, that'll be Back Into The Future, with the Gwalia Male Voice Choir.

If you know of the other guitarist, Mickey Jones who was the mainstay of Man, he died a couple of years ago, but a memorial gig was played last Dec, and is planned again for this Dec in S.Wales. Fans came from Europe and USA last Dec. Keep an eye out maybe?

You say I like to Eat Bananas. I say Keep on Crinting !!

Really pleased I stumbled across this forum :)
