I am thinking of buying one. Apart from the styling which people either love or hate are they any good?. Do they have any major inherent problems?. Are they very expensive to put right if something does go wrong?.

By all reports, they are far from good and expensive to put right.

Please read the opening post. OP is not looking for your theories on the sexual preferences of a car

He may prefer my theories of how much spares cost! Arms and legs are involved.

without getting banned here man, surely you can do better than a pt cruiser seriously.

in today's car market buying a car like thats makes about as much sense as walking thru heathrow with 10kilos of cocaine.

edit: in the last year and a half i have covered most of the uk, right up to thurso and kirkwall. don't remember seeing 1 pt cruiser,, and ya id remember seeing one.

what does that say about them.

So far I have learned that some of you don't like them because they are ''gay''..not exactly the info I am looking for.

What mechanical gremlins do they/could they potentially have?

    injector failure iirc

whatever you do, don't think that because its got a Mercedes designed engine means you'll be getting any special reliability.

Most Chrysler's of that generation are poorly made, terrible handling things with shocking parts prices in Ireland.

if u want a branded engine on the cheap try a rover with a bmw engine.

    not a bloody pt cruiser.

Yet it is a compelling arguement. A bit like hiring Graham Norton to dig your garden- slow, whiney, unreliable and expensive and unlikly to meet your expectations.
Gotta agree with the Rover comments. Any Rover with a diesel is a cracking car imo, but I may be easily pleased.

If you want a Merc engine and nearly as pretty... :D

My sisters friend living in UK bought hers new , within 2 years had all sorts of problems and had to practically give it away to get shut of it.

You'll find the PT Cruiser has very few admirers on this forum.
