hi i have just started cycling and previous to this i noticed all the lovely cycle lanes all around dublin but it wasn't till i actually used them that i noticed how bad some of them are. they are not to wide but this is made worse by hedge rows and wild grasses. some are very bumpy and for road bike users this can be a bit annoying and whats the story with them just ending without warning, being forced onto the road by a railing, and why cant the end or start of a cycle lane be flush with the road.

    rant over

Just type 'cycle lanes' into the search function and you'll see the hundred or so threads on them.

Use the road, and get on to your local TD/Minister Leo Varadkar to repeal the mandatory use law. Get on to your county council to maintain the current lanes better, and design new ones that are actually of use (or not at all, which is my personal preference).
