    Hi there,

I am not looking for an expensive sound system just something very simple!! We have a BOSE Companion which we hope to set up in kitchen/living area for everyday use but I was hoping then to be able to wire this some way to dining room, sitting room and conservatory so that I could have the music playing in these rooms at the flick of a switch if we wanted.

Anybody any suggestions on the best way to achieve this?? We are just doing 1st fix electrics at the moment.

    Thanks a mil

Google 'sonos' it's a wireless system that you can build room by room over time'

Yeah i agree with sonos recommendation. dont scrimp on ceiling speakers do, as this is where quality is required. Make sure good quality speaker cable is installed during first fix, returning to a centralised location.
    Enjoy

We are just at the stage of fitting our system we wired two points to each room we wanted sound. We are now going to use a Sonos ZP90 with a 4 zone amp to send the music around the house. At a later date we can add Sonos speakers to the system.
What do you call an expensive system? If you want me to PM you my system details let me know.

I've been testing a single room system which I will build out to a multi room system in my new house.

I just have a bluetooth audio receiver connected to a 7.1 surround sound amp and speakers.

I can then stream music, internet radio etc. via my wireless network using my phone or tablet as a controller.

Effectively similar to the Sonos wireless system but much cheaper.

The only real expense is the speakers and amp you use and the price of these will vary according to the quality you want.

When I build the multi room system I will look at incorporating the Logitech media server software on a low power home server. The software is open source and free to download from the Logitech website and will run on Linux or Windows. There is also a free android app which you can install on a phone or tablet to control the whole thing.

I'll probably look for ways to hook up to the amp with the wired network rather than the wireless & bluetooth set up I am using at present as it would no doubt be more reliable for audio quality.
