Disable removable storage device

    Hi folks, I am working on a dell inspiron mini 10 netbook.
    I am trying to reinstall xp pro onto it but what is happening to me is that the removable storage device (media card reader ) is showing up as C: drive and my hard drive is showing up as E: drive.
    Is there any way to disable the media card reader so xp can install onto the c: drive?
    I have gone into BIOS and cannot see anything there.
