Creating an image montage with music

Hey all,
Don't know if this is the right place, but I'm looking to create a montage of images with some background music, and I'd like to get some ideas on how I'd go about it, ie what programmes I'd use etc. I was thinking of doing one on the Roman Empire, with images of the Roman forum etc to the Star wars theme tune. There are lots of such montages on Youtube, but none on this particular theme. Anyway, any suggestions eappreciated.

You can easily do it with Windows Movie Maker. It's free.

Just be wary of copyrighted songs/images when you're creating/uploading.

The programs here are fantastic for this type of stuff. I use it for web design albums for photographers. Exports them to flash and not a WMV.
Has a lot more tranisitions and effects as well.
