Harassment and Vandalism

    Hello,

Say for example, 3 of 4 members of a nuclear family have been receiving occasional really horrible texts and their home and farm has been vandalised and invaded. The parents are elderly and dealing with an ongoing family tragedy while the adult children cannot be at home all the time to help. The cost of surveillance is prohibitively expensive.
While this sort of thing happens and isn't unusual in the country a likely culprit may usually be identified by their actions but here the events seem to be to randomly scare in no particular direction.
The family has three mobile numbers from the texts that the Gardai are unable to trace.
What action may be taken in this situation?

    James

This is a matter for the Gardai, press for resolution. If you have the numbers, then they can find out who is doing what.

There is a charter here as well. Please respect it.

not necessarily true, if a phone is unregistered then AGS have no way of identifying the person. As the phone company can only give them the info if they have it.

Yes, that is the only exception. Though, with the requisite level of effort, they can find out.

If AGS can get hold of other numbers that were called by an unregistered phone from the provider and ask the owners of those numbers who ARE registered to identify a number, it might be possible. I don't know if AGS are able to request that sort of information, though, so I'm only speculating.
