Have internet access currently from mobile usb dongle on laptop. Is there a way to advertise this using the laptops wifi so that phones with wifi can connect to the internet ? We are abroad so don't want to use mobile data on the phones.

When I try to google I find a lot of info on tethering using the phones access to the mobile network but don't think this helps since i am roaming my from phones access to the network. The only local access to the data network is the usb dongle.

    any help appreciated.

Unless the mobile dongle is with a provider in the location you are in then presumably you will be using roaming on the dongle.

You could set up internet connection sharing on the dongle and an ad hoc wireless network on the wireless card to share the connection.

No, the dongle has a local spanish sim card.

So you say internet connection sharing on the dongle and ad hoc wireless network on the wireless card on the laptop. any tips on this welcome but I'II google it and see how far it gets me!
