Vietnam: Lost Films

This is a very good series being shown on the History Channel on Sunday nights at 9pm. It tells the story of the Vietnam war and America's role in it through personal films and unseen footage and it's all in colour. It has been on for about 3 weeks now but it's very interesting and pretty graphic.

There were so many Hollywood films made when I was growing up about the Vietnam war and most of them are good but this series shows us what it was really like. I've learned stuff I never knew about it and the second episode is an eye-opener for me. The Search and Destroy strategy is a bit mental!! As someone said in a war movie "War is Hell!!" Very true!

Not usually one for war documentaries but having watched this in full it’s mind blowing.

Myles Duggan 1988 radio documentary Vietnam is well worth checking out if you can find it. RTE rebroadcast it on DAB radio last year. He interviews Irish that fought in the War for the USA and Australia.

Will check that one out, it looks good.

I recently finished 'Vietnam in HD'. It's an outstanding documentary, one of the best I've ever seen on any subject.
