I'am trying to connect my ps3 to the internet through my laptop by sharing the internet connection and with local area connection. Change the network location to home and try again.

Why go through your laptop? Ps3 have there own wireless adapter, i presume you have a wireless router in the house? Your not trying to use one of those dongle thingys are you?
