    Hi Guys,

Just wondering what everyones thoughts are about the santa fe.

I am thinking about changing my car at the moment and i'm looking at a santa Fe.

Has anyone had any good or bad experiences of these?

    Thanks

    CBTC

Not one for the DIY forum methinks.

What model are you looking at?

First generation or second? Petrol or diesel?

All depends what you are looking for. Do you need a four wheel drive to pull a trailer or do you just want an urban tractor. Drove one of these a few years back and unless I needed a jeep , I certainly wouldn't use one as a daily driver :p

My Dads got a 2002 Diesel the last 8 years. 225k miles on it now. Never any issues apart from general servicing and a timing belt.

theyre more a beefy crossover than anything. no low range box, no difflocks, not particularly speedy or great at towing. If you just want to drive around in something big and can live with the fuel consumption by all means go ahead.

If your talking santa fe territory though the subaru outback or audi allroad is a much better bet and just as capable but nicer to drive.

if your looking for a propper 4x4 / towing machine you could go for the santa fe's bigger cousin the Kia Sorento (much more responsive 2.5 diesel + low range box) or something slightly bigger again like a 3.0 landcruiser or discovery.
