Haven't been on a flight in a while. Last time I was I couldn't bring my own water through the departure gate. Just want to find out if it's possible to bring sweets and baby milk formula as we're travelling with 2 small kids and a baby or will we have to buy them in the duty free area?

Sweets are fine, the baby forumla they will probably as kyou to put in a small platic baggie at security.

Still no water, I'm afraid, but you might be able to get some for free on the plane, depending on the airline. Failing that, empty plastic bottle, fill it up on the toilets before you get onboard (after you go through security, of course!).

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Baby foods and milks are the only exception.
If the security is in a good mood they will even let you bring a baby sucky bottle containing water BUT I really wouldnt be depending on that (water may have to be drank or tipped out).

For baby milk, in Cork and Dublin airport we have never had a problem with the little 200ml aptimel tetra packs as its obvious that its a sealed baby milk. Same with closed jars of babyfood with the seal still in tact.
At this stage we have done about 10 return flights to Ireland with our 2 1/2 year old daughter and 10month old son and never a problem yet.

BTW. theres a boots chemist in Dublin Airport terminal 1 which sells all the baby products (incl tetra pack baby milk) at normal high street prices should you need the reassurance of a backup. If flying from terminal 2 theres a link corridor behind security to terminal 1 that has you in boots in less than 10 minutes.

Dont forget, foreign airports may be more strict.

Yesterday in Gatwick, they were limiting what could be carried for a baby and were insisting the baby food was tasted by the parents.

I really wouldn't risk drinking tapwater from airport toilets ...

That sounds perfect. Will go to Tesco and get the aptimel tetra packs so. 3 kids in the airport will be a mit mad so don't want to have to do anything that can be done beforehand. thanks a million.
