    Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on this laptop/the quality of toshiba laptops in general? My Acer died on me after 2.5 years so in the market for a new machine! Will be mostly using it for web/office stuff, and maybe the occaisional bit of gaming (I know it's not suited to high-end gaming).

    here are the specs:

    Intel Core i7 2670QM / 2.2 GHz ( 3.1 GHz ) / 6 MB Cache
    6 GB DDR3
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M - 1 GB DDR3
    640 GB HDD / 5400 rpm

Seems like decent value for 670 euro? :)

For what you want, it's good. Shop around a bit though, I think SaveOnLaptops might have it cheaper (although with them you can't pay by paypal, they charge a surcharge on anything but a debit card and recognize my debit card as one, charge for delivery...they're annoying, but supposedly reliable) or somewhere....I think you can get it a bit cheaper.

The 525m will play most games, on low settings mostly, but you can play them:

Go to the bottom to see FPS counts, it'll do for you.

Also, the CPU on that is a bit expensive and unnecessary for "Office Work", and gaming even. You could do fine with an i3, see if you can find a cheaper version with a lesser processor.

    SaveOnLaptops has a cheaper version:

Sames specs bar the CPU, an i3, which doesn't matter for gaming. I don't know exactly what your office work is, though....

Cheers guys! Think I'll avoid acer from now on though :/ office work is mostly statistical analyses, word processing and PowerPoint (I.e. my thesis D: ). I figured I'd be better off spending a little more and getting the i7 since I'd like it to last me at least 2-3 years. Won't be doing any heavy duty stuff but I figure a little extra processing power can't be a bad thing? :D

No, but I'd say you'd never notice the difference between an i5 and an i7, and the price difference is not insignificant.

RAM and Hard Drive space would be better value, probably. Also, of course, getting one with a nice display.
