    Hi all,
Signed up to this and never post!
Please excuse if this was just posted!

I am a single mother on OPF and receive maintence.. I live back with my parents until I can get back on my feet after having my child, I was just wondering would I be eligble for rent allowance? And is so, does anyone know how long the waiting list is?

    Thanks everyone in advance :):)

I think your first step is to apply to the council for housing.

you need to be assessed by an housing officer before you can apply for rent allowance so fill in the forms and get them handed in so an appointment can be arranged ASAP for housing needs.

The rule is that you must have been assesed by the local authority within the last 12 months as being in need of housing or have been renting for 6 out of the 12 months, have the evidence to prove it and could afford to rent when you first started to rent.
