The porsche design group design all kinds of things, they just released a 1200usd blackberry. They do similar work with lacie for hard drives.

They have also done some interesting watch stuff, generally using other groups for the manufacturer and movements.

This is from memory, so perhaps I'm confusing them with someone else.

I did nearly buy a €110 PD kettle, but it wasn't any good at pouring or boiling water.
It looked great and was manufactured by Siemens.

Porsche Design watches are quite highly regarded. They are designed by Porsche and these days are manufactured by Eterna. Up until a few years ago they were made by IWC.
They're not very popular here though, and Ernest Jones in Dundrum have some at 50% off. I had a quartz chrono for a while. Very nice, and very well put together.

I think that looks fantastic. 44mm case, if I found the right one on their site, which I think is a great size.

But apart from that, it was a great kettle!

I kept saying that to my wife, she just didn't get it.
Who cares about function over form?

Did I hear that PD have actually bought Eterna?

Correct, Eterna are now owned by Porsche Design.

Porsche Design were also manufactured by Orfina at one point; not sure if this was before or after IWC but I suspect before. I believe the Professionals watch was made by Orfina.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that one of the things that defines a true WIS is somebody who believes that Porsches were manufactured by Orfina, IWC or Eterna and that Ferraris were made either by Girard-Perregaux or Panerai.

Weirs have a couple of second hand Porsche Design watches on Grafton street, anyone know which they are? I think they're plain faces, not chrono, one black, one stainless steel colour.

One of my watch regrets and I have many, was selling an Orfina Bund issued chrono many moons ago. Lovely watch. Though maybe it's my weak wrist, but none of the Porsche designed stuff looked right on me. NO idea why. Though I do look odd in their cars too and could never get on with them so maybe that's it. No class on my part. :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
