I had a colt 1911 .22lr and used a fobus one. It was a railed colt and the holster was made for railed 1911s, fitted just fine and cheap as hell on eBay. Jut make sure your not buying a Chinese knockoff

i was looking at the fobus one but was concerned it might be too close to the hip for gallery

Steer well clear of any form of paddle holster, they're a disaster. The Fobus holsters can be very stiff and hard to draw from. I used to have one for a Glock, it took a long time to break it in.

The CR Speed WSMII holsters are a lifetime investment. Dont go for the model specific and all of the parts necessary to convert/resize it to practically any pistol are included. Don't forget, you'll need a belt and mag holders(4 if possible)

I have three mags and a three mag holder. I know that barely covers it and its always good to have a spare in case of a jam. so i may get another mag.

i was swayin towards the fobus c-21 which is designed for 1911s. are they that bad or will it do till i get the money together for a better one.

My only concern would be how difficult it was to draw. The paddle version would be drawn along with your gun:D. Forgive my ignorance, but is the frame and slide of a Colt .22 the same as the .45 version? Both the US and Israeli sites only mention .45:

Its the gsg version which is full size and 80% the same parts

I've heard the paintwork on the GSG's doesn't stand up to much (or was it the Colts), I'd say the Fobus will crucify it. As for the 80%, I'd be more worried about the 20%!

I intend to duracoat it and i would imagine the 20% is the .45 barrel and slide

You should consider a Ghost holster Holster wear will be minimal on your 1911. Also consider safari land. Generally the kydex can be harsh on a guns finish and with a lot of holster presentations your finish will wear quick. It adds character though!!
