Students Pilot Licence

Hello there, just wondering about a students pilot licence.
I know it's 75 euro and you have to provide a medical cert but I've a few questions:

How long does the students licence last for?

How often can you renew this licence?

I'm not particularly interested in training this summer, although that might change in a month or so.
So if I were to get a licence, could I wait until next summer without any activity and be alright?
I'm over age, so it's not a problem and I'm planning on college in September so does this mean that training can wait?

Also I'm in the west so where would be the best place to train?
    Thanks :)

A student license is valid for 5 years so I think you'll be alright.

You can start your training without a SPL. You only need it when you're ready to go solo.

If you are just planning on getting a PPL then a flying club would probably be the best value and most enjoyable. If you are thinking of going all the way to CPL & IR then it probably would be a good idea to pick a FTO rather than a flying club, but there is no rule that states you have to do the PPL in a FTO. Im not too far into my training myself yet, so someone with more experience may say differently. Im also from Dublin so cannot recommend anywhere in the west unfortunately. Best of luck with your training!!

If you want to go the whole hog then go to an FTO that can take you the whole hog. If you only want a PPL go to a flying club.
