Hello all. Be aware that this problem detailed below can happen out of the blue. Fix below.

I was recently notified by a few people that i know that were having issues in the last 3 days or more with all versions of Firefox not being able to play videos like rte player aertv and youtube and most other videos while using different versions of firefox so i have tracked down the culprit and want to share the fix here as it will save you spending ages trying to track it down.

This problem with firefox not being able to play any online videos is caused by realplayer and even the latest version of realplayer will still cause the problem so if you have this issue just go into control panel for windows xp/add remove programs and uninstall realplayer...for windows vista/win 7 go to control panel/programs and features/ and uninstall realplayer from there.
after you do this firefox will play all videos again. also if you needed realplayer for downloading youtube videos or vimeno vids then you can always use Vdownloader as it is excellent and a small file size and fast so you will not be stuck. this realplayer is the main cause of this particular issue and it will fix the video problem.

    zenno.

Uninstalling that Real Player junk will actually benefit your computer. I would advise Real Alternative for playing real content/without needing the junk

I agree, realplayer is one hell of a piece of junk and it would be advised to remove it anyway. Well if anyone gets the problem layed out above you will have to uninstall it anyway. Strange how five people i know got this problem one after the other but there ye go.
