Leak from attic water tank

    I found lots of water dripping from the attic 2 days ago. I had a look and there was a lot of water around the tank on one side and soaked into the insulation. All the pipes and fittings going into the tank were completely dry. The board the tank sits on was wet so it must have come from the tank. Everthing was normal in the tank. The ballcock was in the normal position.
    I dried up the mess and it has stayed dry since. Any idea how this might have happened?

    How do you know it has not come from the roof and dripped onto the board....

    Just curious if you dont know the real problem

    Condensation from the tank sides or possibly dripping off the top inside of the tank lid and getting down the outside of the tank.Check the lid is firmly locked into place and the insulation is correctly fitted. Freshly filled cold tank with a warm moist attic can cause condensation on the outside of the tank.

    +1 on the condensation. I've seen toilet cisterns drip like crazy due to condensation.
