Facebook friends list - amount increasing mysteriously

My friendslist increased be eleven overnight, according to the counter on my profile page. Now, it didn't actually increase, because I had made no friends requests and I didn't accept any. I also have Unfriend Finder installed which notifies you when a new person appears in your friends list or disappears from it, but there were no notifications.

A friend of mine also recently reported his list counter increasing by ten suddenly and randomly.

Is this happening to anyone else?

I noticed a radio station suddenly appearing in my timeline. I never subscribed to them but when I went to their page, the option was clicked for "show in timeline".

Yeah, happened to me too a couple of days ago and it's still the same. I did a quick count (I don't have hundreds of 'friends' on it and I was curious/bored) and it looks like it's just misreporting the actual number that are on the list.

Yeh I noticed I gained forty friends and some of my other friends lists dramatically increased, my only conclusion is that the FB counter has started taking the deactivated accounts into count now

Yep, my friend list went from constantly going up and down by 4 or 5 people, to have jumped up by 40 people a few days-assumed the same, that it was counting deactivated accounts etc.
Whats that unfriend thingy? always thought they were just scam apps for surveys etc.

Even including the deactivated accounts mine is still over by a couple, not sure what's going on with it.

I thought I was going mental, I distinctly remember my friends number a few weeks ago because I checked it, and although I had a few new adds in between in went up by 20 I think.

I actually think facebook is completely ****ed up now. When my friends like photos, pages etc it shows up on their timeline but when I do it doesnt.

And why do some people still not have timeline at this stage? Is there some trick to it?

Never had issue about this, but I've heard of this random plug-ins or links where-in we can get hacked by just installing or clicking it. No clue about that being true though.

Thanks for the link, the script is showing the correct number of friends for me too.
