Putting down a new drive way and I'm wondering what the minimum width I could make it and still get oil delivery truck in.

I'd ring one of the oil distributors to be sure.

    Trucks are 2.5 meters wide.

Be sure to also allow for weight, most domestic tarmac driveways wont take the weight of a fully laden oil delivery truck without sinking or cracking.

I reckon there is no need as there hose is probaby long enough to reach from the gate. I would be asking how long the drivers hose is. I drive a tanker at the moment but not fuel and I have a very long thick hose..:)

Stop boasting about your long thick hose, some of us only have a few inches.

Legally up to 2.55 max without a need for pilot vehicles.
So if OP makes driveway of 2.6m will suffice ;)

Weakest part of the drive is the edge, and don't to make sure the gateway is wide enough for the truck to turn ...

Won't someone please think of the children lorry driver????? Make the drive at least ten feet wide, straight (none of those lovely meandering driveways), somewhere to turn at the top or at least design it so that the poor bugger can reverse in more easily. I fcuking hate backing out on to a road.

I always reverse in where possible. Not always an option though. Amazing how many dopes reckon that just because they can swing their car around there, that you should be able to turn a truck there too.

Two rules I learned when I was starting out.
    1. Never drive in somewhere you can't back out of.
    2. Never trust anyone who says "She'll fly in there, there's lads going in there all the time"

Ten inches? Is that a 'relaxed' measurement? :D
