    Hi,
So I'm looking at buying a new(er) car. And Im looking for some opinions.

I want a golf. But I'm not sure if I should get the 1.9tdi or 2.0 TDI.

Is there much of a difference between the two? Ill be 19 when renewing my insurance so there will be a good difference in the price between the two.

Higher tax on the 2.0 compared to the 1.9

I believe the 2.0 tdi had alot of injector failures (George dalton might be along to expand on this) and i believe they had a few issues with the turbos aswell.

Main thing to look out for on both is the Dual Mass Flywheel may have to be replaced which will cost about 1,000 euro depending on who you bring it to.

Personally i have the MK5 1.9 and i love it tbh. Enough poke to overtake if i need it and a nice drive out of it.

The 2.0 was also called a GT-TDi which as soon as an insurance company sees that will say its a sports car and your premium will be higher. (Not all cases but alot of them that i heard about told this by insurance companys)

Didnt think the tax would be any different. But its still only 34 extra a year, not too bad.

Are those problems really common? Cant really afford to be spending thousands getting the car fixed.

Im moving from a 1.6 Focus what would the power be like compared to that (specifically when moving off)

Already asked my insurance company and it will cost an extra 200-300 when renewing for the GT TDI.

I have an 07 2.0 tdi. Have had it 2 and 1/2 years and its been as solid as a rock. Still love driving it.

Is that 2.0 the PD or CR unit? The PD is unreliable compared to the old 1.9. The CR unit is more modern and quieter, I don't know if it's out long enough for stuff like injector and turbo reliability to be proven.
