Hi, I want to completely format and reimage my laptop as I suspect that I've got a virus somewhere. The antivirus isnt picking up anything and C drive filling up for no reason very quickly.
So the thing is I never had a copy of Windows so wondering do I download it from Microsoft and use the same serial and what exactly version do I have to download?

    Thanks!

Re-installing seems a bit drastic. What anti-virus are you using?
I'd recommend trying a scan and clean with avast and malware bytes. I believe microsoft security essentials is quite good also.

What make of laptop is it???
You more than likely dont need a diak as there will be a recovery partition on the hard disk.
Look up your laptops manufacturer for instructions on how to access this.
Its normally a key press on bootup.
In a dell you press shift+f11 when the dell logo shows.
You can then reset the laptop back to factoty spec.

Your drive will be filling up with restore points, volume shadow copies, temporary internet files if you don't clear history on exit and probably loads of downloads most of which you no longer need.

I do a clean up and maintenance regularly. Only in last week or so this started.
I always had avast on it and was very good. Done a full scan couple of times and nothing. Will try malwarebytes later.

Laptop make is Samsung. Can't even restore to an earlier time. Will try and look for more info.

Finally after few full scans found some malware. Could I attach DDS logs maybe someone could take a look and spot something?
