I am getting lessons for my EDT but I don't have any insurance at the moment.

Do I need insurance to get lessons with an ADI for my EDT ?

    (I have a provisional license)

For lessons in the ADI car their insurance will cover you but if you want to drive another car outside of these lessons you will need separate insurance.

As Davey has said you are insured in your ADI's car by their insurance. But you should be getting practice between lessons in another car that you are insured in.
