Hi, we are booked to travel from stranraer to Troon in July, however the car we booked to travel with has changed due to unforeseen circumstances. Do I need to contact ferry company regarding this, its roughly same size car, passat for Avensis, and if I have to contact them about the change is there a charge? Thanks for any info.

I wouldnt think so, usually when you book a ferry crossing, you give what type of car (i.e 5-dr ) and since they are similar, id doubt they need to know about a change.

OP, I'd give them a ring just in case. My family and I are going from Rosslare to Fishguard next month. My sister made the book on the Irish Ferries website, but we are taking my car. When she was making the booking, she called me and asked for the license plate number of the car, as I presume the website needed the info to make the booking. If you are now traveling on a car with a different license plate, it could complicate things when you show up. I am not saying that it will, but I'd give them a ring just to be on the safe side.

Yeah I'd give them a call, car regs are used in the booking procedure and I was caught myself a few years back when I booked the car under the Uk reg but by the time I came to travel I'd changed it over so had Irish plates. Took a little but if explaining in rosslare but in the end they let me on. Save yourself the hassle and call. I don't think it costs anything.

Hi, I telephoned the ferry company yesterday and they changed the car reg and model. There was no charge (thankfully) and got new confirmation email from them. Thanks for info guys.
