    hello all,thinking of setting up a small cabinet makers work shop at my own house.im just wondering whats the regs in doing so.will i need planning permission to do so

    If you are going to run it as a commercial enterprise you will need planning permission, a fire safety certificate, a disabled access certificate. The LA will look at intensification of use of the entrance, additional traffic, neighbours concerns, etc.

    Could you not try your local Enterprise Centre, the Local Area Partnerships are offering assistance in setting up new businesses.

    thanks for your reply,yes i will be going to the enterprise board in the next couple of weaks looking for some assistance in setting up the business a furniture maker and i want to set up as an internet business so there wont be any one calling to the work shop.ill be selling my products on the internet and at trade shows.do you think the requirements would still be as strict

    I presume you will have deliveries of materials and that you will be shipping out made furniture, so yes these criteria will most likely still apply. You could always try a pre-planning meeting.
