free RAW file editor

so my PC is in storage and so is all my software, and i've photos from a trip to galway i want to do a quick edit on to see how they look.

without spending two hours digging through storage boxes, is there any quick and dirty (and free) RAW file editor available?

already having problems with this - seems very resource demanding. there's a 32 bit version (which is what i downloaded), and they seem to only have this version under sufferance. there's a warning not to point it at directories with more than 100 RAW files because it starts to have performance problems. do they think people still shoot on 1GB cards?

DPP can still be installed using the update link, but you have to trick it into thinking it's already installed on your computer.

Ridiculous, really. Why can't they make things easy?

I assume it's ok to post this info since nothing is being pirated or stolen here.
