    Hi all,

Decided today to build using some parts that I have already. I'm just wondering if anyone can suggest possibly cheaper/better for same price alternatives? Or even cheapest price around, I've only gotten a price on Hardwareversand.de.

Thinking of buying the following on the advice of a friend.
    Intel Core i3-2120 Box, LGA1155

    MSI PH61A-P35 (B3), Intel H61, ATX, DDR3

    4GB-Kit Corsair Twin3X4096-1333C9DHX DDR3, CL9

3R Systems Design Gehäuse R490 Schwarz

I'm looking to put together a low to mid range computer, nothing too spectacular, but still decent enough.

I have a 300W PSU and AMD Radeon HD5450 graphics card, as well as HDD and DVD drive.

All advice is welcome and apologies for my ignorance!

Spend a bit more and get a better case like the Bitfenix merc.
Depending on what you're using it for, you could drop down to a pentium or celeron and just save the rest.

Thanks for the advice. I would be using it for general home use, assignments, movies etc. as well as some light gaming and flight simming but im only looking for them to run smoothly not brilliantly. Do you still think it'd be ok to drop down or should I keep the i3?

Have a look at some reviews (anandtech bench, techpowerup) and judge for yourself, but I'd say a Celeron would be ok. Crazy chip for the price.

Best celeron to go for is the G530. It's a dual core, 2.4GHz - and quite an efficient, powerful, 2.4GHz relative to old generations. Good value for money. I wouldn't be sure about flight sims, I'd imagine they'd depend more heavily on the graphics card.
