    Hi guys

My sky subscription has finally expired and I'm looking to go FTA/Saorview.

What do I need to buy? Where is the cheapest place to go? I'm in Dublin

    My current set up is
    1 sky dish
    1 sky+ hd box
1 sky hd box in another room
    1 Non- Saorview tv.
    1 Saorview approved tv

    Thanks in advance

Since you already have a sky hd box, wouldnt a freesat from sky card (cost ~20) be cheaper than getting a freesat box?

You could even get one of those BAI cards from setanta for free to give you all the freesat channels on your existing HD box.

No need. The expired Sky card acts as a Freesat from Sky card.

Yes but Sky remotely stop the recording feature once you cancel. If you want the recording feature you need to replace the box with a non Sky recording box.

Yes, Cesium clock already covered that with the recommendation of a humax foxsat HD PVR to replace sky+ HD box.

But the Sky HD box with expired card should be just as good as a Freesat HD box to get the freesat channels at 0 expense (seeing as neither have recording capability)

But the problem is with newer Sky HD boxes is when you use your expired card you get the Irish EPG. You'll get alot of channels thru this EPG e.g. BBCs, etc. but some of the other channels like the ITVs, etc. can only be accessed thru the 'Other Channels'. Which can be a hassle.

Older Sky boxes don't have this problem and you get the UK EPG.

If the OP can only get the Irish EPG then a FTV (freesat) card will give the UK EPG with all the channels easily accessible. Or as mentioned a Setanta card (but I don't think this gives as many channels as a FTV card?)

How do I get a FTV card ?

    Check adverts.ie or ebay.ie or tvtrade.ie

A sentanta card might do and there free.
