    Hi Guys,

I was wondering on peoples opinion on the Kia Carens.

I will be needing a car that fits 2 babys and an adult in the back so figure i might as well just get a 7 seater to allow for further expansion:D

I will do doing an 80 mile commute so fuel efficiency is important and a level of comfort

    I was looking at this:

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3487282

but open to suggestions of other mpvs for 7 people.

needs to be diesel and max budget is 8k and ideally i wouldnt want to be older that 2007.

Going to be keeping it till it dies so resale value is not important

    Thanks

There have been reports on here of poor fuel consumption on the diesel.

Nice find bazz, they're a rare find in a 2.0 diesel, ask long as the injectors, turbo and flywheel are in good shape it'd be a shrewd buy.

We have had our Kia Carens since last september - 08 2.0 litre diesel. My husband is the main driver as I use a (currently sick) second car for work. We have done several long journeys since getting it, and have driven almost 15000 miles since getting it.

My husband says its like driving an armchair round the country - though we previously had a 00 Corolla. Fuel wise, its good, but not the best. We are mostly rural driving and get about 46 miles to the gallon.

We agonised quite a bit over what to get, but have to say are delighted with the choice. We have two kids, but have already used the extra seats in the back - which can accommodate 2 car seats at a squeeze too, but then no boot. You can fit 3 seats at a squeeze in the "normal" back too. Adults sitting in the very rear can fit (but getting in is a bit of a chore) and you would be uncomfortable after a while.

My husband got ours in England - flew over in the morning, train to bolton, got car and drove back that night onto ferry. We reckon that we save about 2000 euro based on what we were being asked to pay for one here. this was all in after vat, flights, aa check. Warranty carries over and the car was spotless & lower mileage.

The car in your add is 2007 - your tax will be higher, so you should look at 2008. Also, 2007 only has 5 year warranty - would be nice to have a bit of warranty after you get it. Think higher that 2010 has 7 year warranty. When comparing the specs, there are nicer features in some models - ours has highest one, and has lots of nice features we were not used to...sun roof, auto wipers & lights, ac. The price on this seems good though if you need/want the seven seats. And ours worked out over 10,000

The boot is huge when seats not in use, but one annoying thing is that there is no cover for it - don't like this when travelling with loads of cases. then again, maybe i'm just paranoid!

Other things to look at are hyundai trajet, and bazz' verso looks good - we never found anything as reasonable as that one. We also seariously thought about a seat altea xl, as they did seem to have the space in the back and boot, but no extra seats for expansion.

    Good luck!

Thats a great find Bazz, didnt think i could get anything like that near my price range. I have another option now:)

Thanks also dinomite. you gave a great account of the car. I understand about the 07-08 issue and would love to get the 08 for tax reasons but the jump up in price from 07 to 08 is a killer.

i might check on line in the UK and see what sort of value is going for them so
