    Documents missing in the post
Hi I sent documents to Abu Dhabi by courier through "an post" as I thought this would be safe instead of regular mail and to make sure that they definitely get there.

They were supposed to get there in 3 days and are for an employment visa and were never received. If I didn't check up on it I still wouldn't know.

An post said that they are making an enquiry into this but I have no idea what to do in the mean time. it cost me nearly 200 euro to get the documents certified before sending them and I'm really mad that this could have even happened. I wish I just sent it through the normal mail and maybe I wouldn't have this problem.

Has this happened to anyone else before? If the package is not found I am going to have to get everything copied and certified again which involves sending them to England and waiting another 2 weeks. frown.gif

Relatives of mine sent something important to France a couple of years ago via one of An Post's premium services. Took several weeks to arrive.

I sent a key to the UK a year ago, using ordinary mail, at a post office, where they put the stamps on and said they'd put it into the post themselves. Took weeks to arrive.

I posted some documents to the US a year ago in a post box. Never did arrive.

I don't think the French, UK and US postal services are the ones at fault.

Hi, How do you mean by "courier through An Post"? That doesnt make sense as they are 2 very different things. Also bear in mind that most foreign post offices dont treat foreign mail as priority hence the delays. I posted a newspaper to Arizona last week by regular post and it took 2 days. Most Irish people tend to blame An Post on every delayed item when in fact it is regarded as the european leader.

OP, what does the online track and trace show for the package?

    By who? Themselves?

I sent much-needed medication by swift post to someone...supposed to arrive the next day and took a week!!!
I also posted a present to my sister in the UK in March and it never arrived :(

So you reckon all these missing things are in Ireland and not being kicked around the floor in the Uk, USA and everywhere else? As I said earlier blame the irish post office not the foreign ones

Not a travel topic and the thread is turning into a rant.

OP, I'd suggest starting afresh in the Consumer Issues forum.
